October baby

So the month really got by me...for a supposedly "slow" month, we sure seemed to be busy.  I think I'm the one in low gear while everyone else is cruising along at normal speed.

So, not only have I not blogged much, I totally missed Laney's birthday post!  She turned the big 9 on the 18th and is certainly growing up way too fast!  She enjoyed playing softball this summer and is currently loving taking piano for the second year.  She does a wonderful job and we enjoy listening to her when she actually sits down to practice.  We're still working on that.

She loves to draw and to cook.  I am working up to the idea of having the kids plan and cook some meals during the week...something I think she will thoroughly enjoy.  So, here's a belated, "Happy birthday!" to our little "Nee, Nee" as AJ used to call her when they were little.

Lessons from the tub

My friend & I were recently talking about teaching little ones to drink from the cup and she shared the information that giving them a cup in the tub was a great way to teach them how to do it.  She said, "For some reason, they all love to drink their own butt water, so why not use it?"  Laughing yet somewhat disgusted, I agreed that there is something that they really do love about drinking bathwater.  They won't drink tap water if it's at all warm, but bathwater?  We also laughed at the thought of them in the tub together and imagining them looking at each other and saying, "Wow!  This bath water tastes wonderful!!  Did you pee in here yet, 'cuz this is awesome!"  Mmmm...Drink up baby!

It's the "tooth"...

...the whole "tooth" & nothin' but the "tooth".

Noah now has teeth, as you can plainly see,
not just one or two, but two plus three!
There's another on the way,
but it's putting up a fight,
which makes it hard to get any sleep,
especially at night.
He's using them for biting,
and making Mommy scream.
He'd use them for food,
but he only likes ice cream.
But most of all he uses them
to flash us a great smile,
and that makes all the "OW!'s"
well worth the while.
