"Slidee downee"

That's what AJ said yesterday when I asked him to take the laundry basket downstairs for me. I'm pretty sure I said "no" several times, and he attempted to give it some trial runs by sending the basket down with things in it to see what happens. While I was distracted by talking to Jason's sister, Janice, who was over to use the computer, AJ proceeded to "slidee downee" the stairs. Of course that didn't end well and if you know what our stairway looks like, there's a wall at the bottom of it. So, when he came crusing down & when the basket hit the bottom of the stairs, it stopped, but Evil Kneievel didn't and smacked his head on the wall. Trying to be tough in front of his aunt, he exclaimed with a slight, painful smile, "Wow! That was fast!" The toughness lasted a second and then the adrenaline wore off and the tears came.

I don't know about you, but as much as I love them, it's really hard to be sympathetic when they deliberately disobey you. Enter spiritual lesson...it's a good thing that God is perfect and always merciful when we don't want to listen to him. Once again, a lesson learned for me, about God, through my children, to remind me that I am far from perfect, and that I need to step it up when it comes to giving to them what I expect from my heavenly Father.
